Good Ol' Fashion Mayhem

Because I live in Australia and we don't get awesome gaming conventions to showcase the best new developments in gaming technology, I've been watching all the new E3 trailers for upcoming games.

The first thing I noticed just from the thumbnails on Youtube is how dark, depressing, and monotone all the games are coming out.

Call of Duty, Evolve, The Witcher 3, Destiny, Far Cry 4, Rise of The Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Unity, Dragon Age: Inquisition. While all these games are amazing in their own individual features of gameplay, graphics and story, they just seem to have this unspoken agreement to only use grey, dark green, and more grey. Most games these days seem to have fallen to the colour scheme of the last four Harry Potter films.

As far as I've seen, only Nintendo and possibly Dragon Age: Inquisition has had any hint of a colour pallet. Nintendo even has a new game called Splatoon where you literally have to spray brightly coloured paint at each other to win.

And then there's Sunset Overdrive!

Finally someone took the abundance of third-person shooter games bent on annihilation and destruction made something fun. A shooter where 13-year-olds don't call your mother a wench because you missed that head shot or that game where you have to rescue the pretty girl because of reasons so cliché you may as well tell Nintendo to take over because it's basically another Zelda game.

There is still hope for the gaming community!
